Iranian film ‘Before Heaven’ is to vie at the Sharjah International Children Film Festival in the UAE.

Iranian film ‘Before Heaven’ is to vie at the Sharjah International Children Film Festival in the UAE.

Written and directed by Ahmad Heidarian, the six-minute film will represent Iran at the main competition section of the event.

A production of Sooreh Film Club, the animated piece is about the 1948 creation of Israel and the eviction of Palestinians from their homeland.

The flick, which features no dialogue, is produced by Mohaddeseh Pirhadi.

“In 1948, many Palestinians were forced to leave their homes. Each abandoned house was taken by a Zionist family and that’s how Palestine was occupied,” comes as a conclusion to the film.

It adds that, “This film is dedicated to all Palestinian children who left their drawings, one day.”

Sharjah International Children’s Film Festival is the first children film festival in the country and one of the most important ones in the region. The festival is dedicated to enhance the media literacy of children and young people, foster children’s creativity and showcase the very best in filmmaking for, by and about children and young people.

The festival plays an essential role in bringing international films and new media content for youth and children in the region. It exposes them to world cultures and promotes peace, tolerance and global understanding of how people from different cultures, religions and backgrounds live together in this world.

This year’s edition of the event is scheduled for October 10-18.
